When you wish upon a stone…

Have you ever seen one of these? According to legend, a wishing stone is a rock with a distinct, continuous line that runs around it. These are known to grant wishes when mediated on and tossed back into the ocean, or lovingly passed along to someone else. Wishing stones are stones of any size or kind, that are marked with a clearly defined, naturally occurring white or off-white stripe. The stripe must be unbroken, and encircle the stone. It should be just one stripe, without any other stripes branching out. They’re commonly found on beaches and in riverbeds.

We always keep a look out for wishing stones on Cromer beach. It’s rare to find them!
